Hailing from Murano, Italy, the glassmaking capital of the world, the Venini name has become synonymous with high quality and cutting edge design over the past 100 years. Paolo Venini, a Milanese lawyer, and Giacomo Cappellin, a Venetian antiques dealer, formed their partnership in 1921, producing simple designs with gorgeous colors that competitors could not reproduce. The company is perhaps best known for their bubble glass, in which thousands of tiny air bubbles render the glass opaque. Venini pieces can be found in such places as the home of Saint Laurent head designer Stefano Pilati and permanent collections at the Louvre and MoMA.
